Hispanic Access’ Fifth Annual Latino Advocacy Week Kicks Off April 28

Category: News Releases

Hispanic Access Foundation’s fifth annual Latino Advocacy Week begins on April 28 and runs through May 2, 2025. Latino Advocacy Week was launched in 2021 to help build the capacity and familiarity among Latinos to advocate for themselves, their families, and their communities. This year’s theme in “Our Voice, Our Strength, Our Future”, which is essential as the Latino community continues to shape the nation's social, economic, and political landscape.

“Latinos are a growing segment of the U.S. population, and an increasingly driving force,” said Maite Arce, President and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “However, significant barriers hinder Latinos’ participation in America’s democratic processes–language, knowledge, accessibility. Latino Advocacy Week helps break down those barriers, and ensure our community can engage in advocacy efforts that influence policies affecting their communities.”

In light of the recent 2024 elections, Latino Advocacy Week 2025 stands as a pivotal moment for the Latino community to amplify its voice and influence. The 2024 elections witnessed a historic turnout, with an estimated 17.5 million Latinos casting their votes—a 6.5% increase from 2020—highlighting the community's growing electoral significance. Despite this progress, challenges persist. Latino Advocacy Week 2025 aims to empower Latinos to engage actively in the democratic process, address pressing issues, and ensure that their collective voice shapes policies affecting their lives.

Throughout the week, Hispanic Access Foundation will host virtual workshops, including advocacy workshops, panel discussions with policymakers, and community-led initiatives to encourage civic engagement. We also encourage partner organizations nationwide to participate, amplifying Latino voices in key policy areas affecting their local communities, such as education, healthcare, the environment, immigration, etc.
