MEET OUR INTERNS

Iana Grullón Penkova

My name is Iana Grullón Penkova, I was born in Bulgaria and have lived in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Spain. I have two master’s degrees, one in Ecosystem Restoration from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and one in Environmental Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, along with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the same university. During the past 5 years, I have been working with the Tropical Responses to Altered Climate Experiment, in El Yunque National Forest, but my background is also in urban ecology as I focused my studies research on green roof ecosystems. My interests in science are urban ecology, climate change, tropical ecosystems, and urban ecological connectivity. On my free time I like to bake and paint.
